Job DescriptionSpecializes in deployment, maintenance, and documenting the software tool chain for source code management, software compilation, and/or artifacts content distribution. Ensures the efficient planning, installation/configuration, maintenance, and operations of the hardware and software infrastructure required to build, validate, and release a wide variety of hardware and software products and projects. Oversees and ensures timely software releases and may manage the software implementation process from development to execution. Sets nightly builds, static and binary code analysis, and oversees proper packaging of new software version releases. Requires deep knowledge of software configuration management, CI/CD systems and discipline in managing infrastructure as code.Key Responsibilities:Plan the release of project deliverables and release life cycle.Understand and communicate the project-related tasks such as plans, timelines etc. between different teams.Review and ensure that the required change management processes are adhered to and continuously improve themMaintain a Release calendar to coordinate the release schedule , planned releases, and infrastructure updates/ upgrades.Help the teams build the team structure to manage the releases, oversee all releases and support the teams for smooth releasesIdentify the risks that can delay the release and work with the individual teams to mitigate these risks.Work to improve the process of release.Ensure that the individual team doing the releases follow the various processes defined. Provide guidance for teams.Plan and give weekly updates on the release activities across the landscapesEnsure that releases are streamlined by individual APTs and specific team members are assigned for handling the releaseEnsure that the Go-Live activities are carried out by individual teams successfully.Conduct Post release reviewsTeam up with relevant development teams Ensure they understand the automation tools used to develop and deploy the software (Rev-Trac).Maintain reports related to releases, frequency, and release related issues and how to avoid those in futureBe an escalation point for development teams for any release related queriesL2/ L3 support in case of urgent issuesContinually update the Change and Release Management work instructionsWork with the Vendors to enhance the user experience for release managementWork with the infrastructure/ platform engineering team for robust and performing release environment.QualificationsSkills Required for a Release EngineerAs the role of a Release Engineer is quite competent, so you need to excel in some of the key technical skills. In addition to that, some soft skills, coordination and communication skills are required.B.Tech in Computer Science or an equivalent degreeSAP Release / deployments experienceKnowledge of SAP development lifecycle, tools, development environment , migrations, migration tools like RevTrac,Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CD/CI) pipelinesExperience in working with DevOps and Agile methodologiesWorking knowledge of Software Development LifecycleExpe rtise in computer programming , Knowledge of ABAP , SAP technologies developmentProject coordination skillsGood understanding of SAP infrastructure, system architecture, SAP Landscapes and operating systemSAP development experience ABAP will be an added advantage.Experience in the use of SAP Release Automation tools such as RevTrac will be an added advantage.Understanding of SAP S4 and transformation knowhow from earlier version will be an added advantage.Soft Skills:Excellent communication skillsLeadership skillsPresentation skillsProblem-solving and analytics skillsTeam and time management skillsRequirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.Inside this Business GroupIntel's Information Technology Group (IT) designs, deploys and supports the information technology architecture and hardware/software applications for Intel.
